Here's the work about the first presentation: JenniCAM =)

Hi everyone! here's the Powerpoint of our presentation which is done by me and lavin.

(actually i don't know if there is a more direct way upload the Powerpoint so i juz put the link here and forgive me for this please.)

Our presentation focus on one reading only, as required on the guideline, which is about JenniCAM. We try to explain what Jennifer Ringley is doing. Why is the website so special? What is so attractive to both men and women especially when there is no pornography provided? While, in the perspective of Jennifer, JenniCAM may only be a way of making money or a funny thing to do, what JenniCAM has implied or revealed?

It is about identity.

At first glance, JenniCAM is only a tool, once again, to exploit and oppress women. Although there is no intention to provided any pornography, the violence of voyeur is here in the JenniCAM. Jenni is objectified and to be "enjoyed" by people. The stereotype of women seems to be perpetuate in JenniCAM.

However, what is so tricky is that Jenni is the one who objectified herself and moreover, it is to be done by the cam and the Internet. In fact, the construction of both gender subjectivity and identity of a human is subversive in JenniCAM. Binary systems are blurred or even broken when we look deeply into JenniCAM.

As an individual, Jenni is not simply a human anymore but rather a cyborg: Jenni+CAM, which is a combination of human and machine. The exist of Jenni is only possible when Jenni's cam is on and goes online. The time, space and narrative of the human, Jenni's life is only possible when she is combined with the cam and the Internet. In the eyes of other Internet users, Jennifer Ringley is true only when she is combined with the cam. In fact, the one they know is not Jennifer, but a cyborg, JenniCAM.

Please enjoy the Powerpoint=)
